Ingredients

For Loukoumades Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For Syrup & Toppings:

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
    In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
    Gradually add warm water and olive oil, stirring until smooth.
    Cover the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours until it has doubled in size.
  • Fry the Loukoumades:
    Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
    Use a spoon to drop small portions of dough into the oil.
    Fry until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  • Make the Honey Syrup:
    In a saucepan, combine honey, sugar, and water.
    Simmer for 5 minutes until the syrup thickens.
  • Serve:
    Drizzle the warm syrup over the fried Loukoumades.
    Garnish with cinnamon, sesame seeds, or nuts as desired.
